Happy spring break 2014!
Not to toot my own horn, but I'm going on an awesome spring break cruise to the Bahamas. This means I will be out of cell phone and internet service for five days. Perfect vacation from everything in my opinion!
Anyway, this means there won't be a technique of the week post, so I want to instead ask for your ideas! What should we talk about in the future? Any thoughts?
I was thinking something about lesson planning....where to find good lessons- shortcuts..etc. I think especially as a first year teacher, you spend a ton of time planning.
ReplyDeleteYou do spend a lot of time planning your first year. You have no choice! Unfortunately, your first year full-time on your own is hell. There are some ways to help make it easier. First, STAY ORGANIZED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot stress this one enough. Even though I take my organization to an extreme level, any teacher must have that. You can tell in my opinion right away a teacher that is organized and one that is not. Second, get a mentor. Even if one is not assigned to a teacher in your field-go and find one. It is so amazingly important. I was very fortunate to have had the privilege of having a mentor who was very hard on me-but I learned and grew so much in that time. Learn to find your comfort zone, and individual style of teaching. This one is the most ambiguous, and not as clear cut, but it takes time, and the only thing I can say is that you will know when it happens, and when you find that out. Ok KIM, I have no contributed to the blog!!!!
